Day 2: Gorilla Trekking Experience

This is the first day of a 5 Days Rwanda Primate Tour where you can enjoy nature. After breakfast, you will be transferred to the park headquarters – Kinigi, to learn about the migration of the endangered mountain gorillas from the park rangers. If your trek is prepared with enough drinking water and packed lunch, the driver will take you on a gorilla trek with a ranger guide at the starting point.

This activity can take 1-8 hours to find the gorillas depending on their movements. However, meeting them can be very rewarding and you will spend up to an hour observing them up close in their natural habitat, taking the time to observe them as they go about their daily lives. Take as many photos and videos as you can fit on your camera roll.

After spending time with these adorable mountain gorillas, return to the base or starting point to meet your driver and take you back to your hotel for lunch or refreshments. After lunch, depending on the weather, you will have completed the trek; you can choose to go on a cultural tour.

Toby iwachu Cultural Village is a non-profit umbrella organization that aims to improve the lives of reformed poachers and communities in Rwanda’s Volcanoes National Park by providing conservation incentives, and supporting community business development and livelihood-based projects.
